Communication Policy and Code of Conduct for Parents
At Horton Mill Community Primary, we believe strong partnerships between home and school are essential for children’s wellbeing and learning. We aim to provide clear, respectful communication and to respond to messages in a timely manner during term time. Please use the school’s preferred channels—such as the school office, class teacher, or the designated contact email—for day-to-day questions and routine updates. If your message relates to a safeguarding concern, bullying, or a serious incident, please inform the school immediately so that the appropriate support and procedures can be followed.
We ask all parents and carers to communicate respectfully with staff, children, and other families at all times. This includes in person, by telephone, by email, on the school playground, and through social media. We do not tolerate abusive language, threats, harassment, or behaviour that disrupts learning or staff work. Where concerns are raised, we encourage parents to follow the school’s complaints process and to provide factual information so that issues can be investigated fairly. The school may restrict access or take further action where conduct is unacceptable, in line with our safeguarding and safeguarding-related duties.
